The Feast Alabang

The Feast is a weekly gathering of the Light of Jesus (LOJ) Family, aimed at celebrating and spreading God’s love through worship and inspirational talks. The LOJ Family is headed by lay preacher, Bo Sanchez. The Feast is held at the Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig City but, eventually, local Feasts were created in different areas of Metro Manila to allow more people to experience what can best be described as “one of the happiest places on earth.”

The local Feast for the LAMP (Las Piñas, Alabang, Muntinlupa, Parañaque) District of the Light of Jesus Family was first held at the Starmall in Alabang on February 28, 2009. Known then as the South Feast, it was a bi-monthly event, held every other Saturday, with anticipated mass, worship and talk. In May of the same year, the South Feast moved to SM Southmall. Back then, there was an average turnout of around one hundred people. The attendees were mostly LOJ members and their families.

On June 21, 2009, the South Feast had a soft opening for a Sunday session in Cinema 8 of the Festival Mall in Alabang with 537 people in attendance. Realizing the need for a bigger venue, the South Feast Council decided to move to Cinema 10 for the grand launch.

The South Feast, led by Feast builders Hermie Morelos and main preacher Arun Gogna, officially opened its doors to the residents of Las Piñas, Alabang, Muntinlupa, and Parañaque, as well as the nearby provinces of Laguna and Cavite, on July 5, 2009.

The number of attendees steadily grew beyond the maximum seating capacity of the theater. Despite adding one hundred or so monobloc chairs, people still ended up sitting on the aisles, the stairs and the ledges just to be able to hear God’s word spoken in the South Feast.

Many residents of the LAMP area – even from places as far as Makati City and Batangas Province – now made the South Feast their home; and were inviting family and friends to experience the same abundance of blessings that they were receiving.

The South Feast opened a 3:00 p.m. session to accommodate the overflow from the 11:00 a.m. session on February 28, 2010. Nevertheless, the morning session was still filled to capacity. Seats were still available in the afternoon but this session was also seeing a growth in attendance. To date, attendees for both sessions total about a thousand each week.
